My Learning Fall and Rise

As we all know this school year went by very fast. Looking back on the day I first entered Dr. Preston’s English classroom I was very excited and nervous. I remember being excited and nervous because I’ve been waiting patiently to go back to school and the curiosity of who was going to be in my classes drew me nuts. The first days’ of school always excite me since I get to meet new teachers and peers that will be with me for the rest of the year. When English class started Dr. Preston went straight to the point. He talked about how everything we learned in our previous classes was going to be completely different the way he going to be teaching us, but we had to make that decision ourselves. To my surprise he left the classroom and everyone else inside had to talk about whether we wanted to go for the Open Source Learning Network or stick with the old-fashioned textbooks. Before we had to choose, he explained what Open Source Learning Network was all about. He showed us a video about his previous students and their experiences with the network. I found it very interesting and unique, so I wanted to give it a try. As school started to unfold more and more, we began to start on bigger things like reading essays such as “Young Goodman Brown” which was about a man who had faith in everyone in his life like his family and friends. But at the end of the story he feared everyone. Essays like these are very interesting and little annoying to me because I don’t know if they’re true or not. Overall this class has been very exciting and I’m glad we’re not doing boring old worksheets.
