. When Gatsby was younger he worked for a man named Dan Copper who was wealthy man. He was his personal assistance and the one who also gave him the name Jay Gatsby. When Dan died he left Gatsby $ 25,000 but Dan's mistress prevented him from claiming his inheritance. Tom and Gatsby finally meet but it's pretty awkward and they both invite each for dinner and Tom politely declines the offer but Gatsby accepts theirs not knowing it was just to be polite. Later on Daisy and Tom go to Gatsby's party but Tom doesn't care about the party but rather just looking out for Daisy because he has suspicions. Daisy isn't having fun and Gatsby feels distraught. He wants Daisy to leave Tom but Nick tells him he can't re-create the past but Gatsby believes he can.
